BECOME AN INTERN AT TAM


As TAM grows, we can now offer valuable experience and opportunities to our community in the form of educational credits. We have a plethora of interesting skillsets that would aid students from high school to college level courses.

MUSEUM EDUCATION

Join The Art Museum as an intern in the Art Education department! Interns will be assisting the Education Director and Assistant with various educational projects around the museum. Students interested in art history, art education, or museum studies would fit well in this position. 

Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the art supply room
  • Assist in preparing supply boxes for museum educators
  • Assist in cataloging and organizing the museum art education library
  • Performing data entry to track statistics for TAM ARTworks program

Qualifications

  • Art History, Humanities, Art Education, or Education majors preferred
  • Maintain a 3.2 GPA
  • Must have own laptop
  • Organized, reliable, and professional
  • Skills in Google Suite 
  • Customer service skills
  • Familiarity with art terminology and mediums preferred

MUSEUM COMMUNICATIONS & MARKETING

Join The Art Museum of Eastern Idaho as a graphic design & marketing intern. Allow us to help build your portfolio and experience by working under our Communications Director to learn the importance of branding and marketing.

Responsibilities

  • Create and schedule social posts on all platforms
  • Brainstorm campaign ideas
  • Creates long term assets to be used in future campaigns 
  • Analyzes analytics to gauge the success of campaigns by TAM and our competitors
  • Understand the overall mission of the museum, including the brand, goals, and demographics
  • Provide suggestions for improving customer experience on social platforms and internal processes
  • Learns design trends and how they relate to the mission 
  • Assists in creating performance reports

Qualifications

  • Must be within the 3rd or 4th year of a graphic design or marketing program/degree
  • Must have basic knowledge of Meta and other social platforms
  • Must have extensive knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Excel 
  • Highly self-motivated
  • Organized and Punctual 
  • Detail-oriented 
  • Highly communicative & professional
  • Must have their own equipment & Creative Suite account

Preferred Qualifications

  • Video editing skills
  • Photography skills
  • Knowledge of the museum industry
  • Knowledge of the non-profit industry

MUSEUM TECHNICIAN

Join The Art Museum as an intern in the Museum Visitor Services department! This position will serve the functions of facilities maintenance and small building projects around the museum.  Good for students in trades of carpentry or cabinetry. 

Responsibilities

  • Install shelving
  • Build pedestals for displaying artwork
  • Paint and repair existing pedestals
  • Patch and paint holes in walls
  • Sanding and restoring museum fixtures and display cases
  • Build cabinetry for storage 

Qualifications 

  • 1-2 years in wood shop or repair high school or college courses 
  • Maintain a 3.2 GPA
  • Highly Self Motivated
  • Organized and Professional
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Must be able to pass a background check
